PhoneGenie Edge · Local survivability

A cloud phone system that keeps ringing when the internet doesn't.

PhoneGenie Edge is the on-site side of the HotelGenie cloud PBX. If the internet drops, it keeps room, front desk and department phones ringing, keeps 911 on a local line, and stays in step with every change you make in the cloud.

Why it matters

Hotels shouldn't have to choose between reliable and modern

For years the choice was a box in the phone closet or a cloud system that depends on one internet line. PhoneGenie Edge removes the trade-off.

Old on-site PBX

Reliable, but stuck in the closet

Hardware that ages out, parts that get harder to find, and a technician for almost every change.

Cloud-only PBX

Easy to manage, until the internet drops

When the connection goes down, room phones, the front desk and departments can go quiet with it.

PhoneGenie Edge

Cloud managed, survivable on site

Run everything from the cloud, with local survivability at the property so calling inside the building keeps working.

How it works

Local when it has to be. Cloud everywhere else.

Day to day, your team manages the whole phone system from the cloud, and PhoneGenie Edge keeps a live copy of the property's phones, extensions and ring groups, updated within about a second of any change. If the internet drops, Edge takes over on site: it rings the phones directly, answers incoming calls on your local lines and keeps calling inside the building running. When the link comes back, phones reconnect to the cloud on their own.

  • Room-to-room, front desk and ring-group calls keep working during an outage
  • 911 goes straight out a local line at the property, with the right caller ID
  • Incoming calls on your local lines still ring the right phones
  • Cloud changes reach the property in about a second, with no restart and no dropped calls
  • If the on-site box is ever offline, phones fall back straight to the cloud

Complexity, fixed

Everything that made hotel phones hard, handled

One platform, not a stack of vendors

Phone system, operator console, guest app, AI concierge and room-level E911 on the same platform.

Changes without a truck roll

Extensions, ring groups and caller ID are set once in the cloud. Edge picks up each change in about a second, without a restart or a dropped call.

Local call routing when it counts

During an outage Edge rings extensions and ring groups directly and sends calls out your local lines, so the property keeps talking.

Keep the phones you have

HotelGenie Voice Bridge keeps analog and SIP handsets working, or connect your current PBX over SIP, PRI or T1.

No single point of failure

Phones know both paths. If the on-site box is ever offline, they connect straight to the cloud on their own.

Move at your own pace

FAQ

PhoneGenie Edge questions

What is PhoneGenie Edge?

PhoneGenie Edge is the on-site part of the HotelGenie cloud PBX. It keeps a live copy of your property's phone setup, so if the internet goes down, calling inside the property keeps working, 911 stays on a local line, and phones reconnect to the cloud on their own when the connection returns.

What keeps working during an internet outage?

Room-to-room, front desk, department and ring-group calls keep working, routed by Edge on site. Incoming calls on your local lines still ring the right phones, and outside calls can go out those lines. 911 always goes out a local line with your emergency caller ID; we recommend that line has its own path or a cellular backup. Voicemail, auto attendants and other cloud features come back with the connection.

What happens when the internet comes back?

Phones reconnect to the cloud automatically and normal service resumes. There is nothing for your staff to re-enter or clean up.

Do we still manage everything from the cloud?

Yes. Your team sets everything up in one cloud dashboard. Edge reads from it, so there is nothing to configure on site, and each change reaches the property in about a second.

Does it work with our current phones or PBX?

Yes. Voice Bridge supports analog and SIP handsets, and HotelGenie connects to Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, NEC and other systems over SIP, PRI or T1. See hotel PBX integration for details.
